All images are the copyright of the artist. To obtain these references has required 2 days of walking: 23/7/08, 7/3/10 (click on the dates to see the photos) Great Crag 1500'
From Watendlath. 7/3/10 Early Spring was a good time to visit as the leafless trees allowed a better view of the fell.
Footbridge Bleatarn Gill. 7/3/10 This small bridge is now on private land and only one of a few references which I had to get permission to visit.
Dock Tarn. 7/3/10 This is a delightful tarn surrounded by heather. On the day of this visit it was bitterly cold and the water was completely frozen over.
Wall boulder. 7/3/10 The small wall that AW drew as a curiousity on top of this large boulder has now collapsed. Away in the distance is the snow covered Helvellyn range.
From Watenlath Tarn. 7/3/10
The summit. 7/3/10 It was from this point (or very close to it) that AW was able to photograph 3 scenes which he would later use in the Pictorial Guides, this one of Great Crag summit and the two chapter main views for both Ullscarf and High Raise. It is Ullscarf that can be seen here in the distance.
Fell Complete.
