6th March 2009. Birks.
What to be my second walk of the day, a
route from Thornhow up on to Birks. This was my third visit to this fell on this
"round" but I needed a reference for which the weather could not have been
better.

From Thornhow I headed through Glemara Park before
heading up towards Thornhow End.

"Strike a Pose girls"

Across Grisedale towards Helvellyn which had been in
cloud since just after I got my photos. I still can't believe how
fortunate I was.

Winter skies and St Sunday Crag.

Zooming in on Catstycam over "the hole in the wall",
already you can see how the snow is going.

Not far from the summit and a great view over to Gray
Crag and Hartsop Dodd.

Nethermost Pike.

Rampsgill Head and moody skies.

Birks summit and beyond to Helvellyn and Catstycam.

St Sunday Crag.

From the summit I descended directly north to pick up
the path near Birks Crag. Here Place Fell is coming into sun.

Sheffield Pike seen from the descent as I return to the
car.

All aboard and ready to go home after a great day on the
hill.
